Synopsis: In this A&T Talks episode, we chat with independent photographer, Adjunct Professor at New York University, and New York Times photography editor Jeffrey Henson Scales. He is the photography editor of the Opinion Op-Ed Section and the annual Year In Pictures special section. He also curates The New York Times, photography column, “Exposures.” Mr. Henson Scales in his time as an editorial photographer working in the entertainment industry produced record covers for a variety of artists, ranging from pop groups like The Jacksons to Los Angeles punk bands like The Bangles and Hip Hop artists like Arrested Development. We discuss his work and process as a photo editor, tips and advice for photographers, and how to get assignments as a working photographer.
